Sponsorship Opportunities

QCO tax credits are made available to individual registrants from a pooled registration fund, supporting the registration of all players. Eligibility for and use of the tax credit depends on each taxpayer’s individual circumstances.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Arizona QCO Tax Credit?

It’s a dollar-for-dollar credit on your Arizona state taxes for contributions to qualified charitable organizations, up to $495 for individuals or $987 for joint filers.

How does my tournament registration work withthe tax credit?
Player registrations are covered through apooled registration fund supported by QCO donations. Each registrant receivestheir own QCO tax credit receipt.
What’s required to file the tax credit?
You’ll need the official receipt issued in yourname by our organization, along with the QCO code. Attach Form 321 when filingyour Arizona taxes.
If my company is a sponsor, how is that treatedfor tax purposes?
Sponsors receive a receipt for the fullsponsorship amount (including registration pool contributions, meals, andrelated items). Sponsorships are typically treated as business/marketingexpenses under IRC §162. These are fully deductible “above the line,” with nopercentage limit. Some organizations may instead choose to treat their supportas a charitable contribution under IRC §170, which is a “below the line”deduction subject to the 10% corporate income limit. Any QCO receipts areissued only to individual registrants, not to the sponsoring company. Pleaseconsult your accountant or finance team for guidance.
Does every registrant automatically get thecredit?
Each registrant receives a receipt, buteligibility to claim depends on their individual Arizona tax situation.
Could this be considered employee compensation?
No. Registrations are funded from a pooled QCOdonation fund and not earmarked by employers. Because there is no directemployer-to-employee benefit, this is not treated as compensation.
Can I make my own QCO donation in addition to myregistration?
Yes. Many players choose to contributepersonally, doubling the impact while still qualifying for the credit on theirown return.
How are QCO donations tracked?
All QCO donations are accounted for separately, and receipts are issued directly to the individual donor or registrant.
Can a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) be used forregistration or sponsorship?
No. Donor Advised Fund grants cannot be used forsponsorships, event registrations, or any arrangement that provides a personalbenefit or state tax credit. If you’d like to support the event through a DAF,please contact us to discuss grant opportunities that qualify as generalcharitable support.
Where can I learn more about the credit itself?
See the Arizona Department of Revenue’sQualified Charitable Organizations page for official guidelines. LINK: https://azdor.gov/tax-credits/credits-contributions-qcos-and-qfcos
